Flight Simulator Arrived!!

Mr. White's  8th grade Environmental Science classes are learning about the principals of  Flight incorporating  the laws of Physics as well as mechanics and engineering in their class. They are enjoying learning how to  build  tissue paper balloons, then a rubber band powered planes with their own propellers they create on the 3-D printer, completing the project through the use of  a flight simulator. It has the latest technology with state of the art computer applications. Ms. Castro and Ms. Presburger's classes  are also involved. 

Mr. Harvey(IT) and Mr. White were the first to try it out. The students can't wait!!!

Fremont Middle School Showcased in the District Office Boardroom

Fremont Middle School  -  Academy of Environmental Science and Innovative Design 

was featured at the District Office Board Room for the month of March.

 Please take a look at the great display of all that is going on at Fremont that Vice Principal Dr.Guerrero, Vice Principal Erica Ulteras, and Counselor Viridiana Rodriguez  put together.

 The teachers were very helpful in selecting wonderful examples of 

student work to be display in the board room.

Fremont  has received 2 new 3-D printers from Airwolf as part of the MSAP/STEAM grant. They are going to be kept in Mr. White and Mr. Shiffman's workrooms, but the whole school may use them. Here are some photos of Mr. Shiffman opening the new printers.

 We had 57 Fremont students competed in MESA day at UCSB this past Saturday against 7 middle schools. Fremont students were competitive in every category there.

The Supreme Court Mock Trials- Debating Constitutional Issues

8th grade U.S. Government and the Constitution-

Mr. Crowell's 8th grade Social Studies classes recently held  a

 Supreme Court Mock trial.

Parents,Staff and students were invited to observe and see our 8th graders doing a wonderful and thoughtful interpretation of all of the different aspects of the actual court cases. Mr. Crowell presided over all as the Chief Justice. All the cases were historic and established some sort of Constitutional Precedence.

Monday February 23 and Tuesday Feb 24:  Case was New Jersey V. TLO, Constitutional Issue was 4th Amendment, student search and seizure at school.

Wed Feb 25 and Thur Feb 26:  Case was Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier:  Constitutional Issues was 1st Amendment, Freedom of Press at school.

Monday March 2 and Tuesday Mar 3:  Case was Wallace v. Jaffree:  Constitutional Issue was 1st Amendment Freedom of Religion/Prayer in school

Wed Mar 4 and Thur Mar 5:  Case was Gregg v. Georgia:  Constitutional issue was 8th amendment and the death penalty

It was very engaging to watch and the students should be commended on doing such a                 Top-Notch job!!!
